The Display of Fear-Avoid

Fear shows in many ways.

One way I’ve noticed it recently is in avoidance.

Avoiding going back to the gym because I’m afraid I won’t get any stronger.

Avoiding that conversation because the person might not like you.

Avoiding stepping out because it might not work.

I know in my gut when fear is driving my avoidance. I’m going to try to fight that fear more often by labeling it, then doing something creative about it.

Honesty is necessary

In order to fully experience Integrity of Self, we must be honest.

Honest about where and who we actually are. Not blindly where and who we hope.

Self-Awareness is null without honesty.

True self-actualization requires deep honesty.

Honesty should be the sharp, harsh turn we take immediately after self-awareness.

Inspired by the deep wisdom of Alex Crist, a friend who always visits if in town and whom I’ll always carve out time for when he is in town.

Deep Change

This is incredibly difficult. It takes a great amount of time.

When we try to force change from the outside in, we can miss out.

A different way is to take what is on the outside and let it bring out the internal truth. Instead of forcing the outward onto the inward, allow the inward to be brought forth through the experience of the outward.

It takes more time, more effort and more reflection but it doesn’t allow us to short-change ourselves as much.

Fake it till…when?

Fake it till you make it.

I want to believe this is true. I think it can be true actually.

This can be a shortcut though and there can be a negative impact. Maybe we fake it so much that it doesn’t soak in quite fully to who we are.

If we need quick change and need it immediately, this can be a good urgent solution.

Often though we think it’s urgent but it is not. I’m going to be careful of this but not be afraid to use it when it’s necessary. Or at least I think it’s necessary.
