Influence is in front of me

I see many others finding their niche in the mass media influence. Great people doing incredible things!

It makes me want that. To have a large following through the digital tools available.

I want a video series, this blog to soar with many unique visitors, eventually write a best seller, influence others across the world!

For me, all these wants are in vain. I want them because they are shiny and others have them. Their lives seem so much better than what I have now.

This is lustful and damaging to my own life.

I have an incredible life with endless possible influence right in front of me. My wife loves me more than I can comprehend. My puppy is too cute (Just check my puppy’s #OurDogEnder). My neighborhood is a beautiful place. My colleagues thirst for more. My friends support and love me with grace and strength.I could go on…

Why look elsewhere? I have the possibility all right here. I’m going to engage with what is in front of me and see what else comes in my viewfinder.

Do you have internal drive?

Ask anyone that knows me, I’m an optimist. But I’ve been feeling pessimistic, negative, cynical about one thing lately.

You cannot train or teach internal drive, ambition, thirst

If someone has this drive, you know it. If they don’t, it’s unlikely to develop through outward influences.

We must summon this drive on our own. We are responsible for our internal drive.

Why summon it? Well, why not? And we need your ambition.

“I am a conduit”

A coach and colleague of mine, Tim, recently shared this idea:

I am just a conduit of information I’ve learned and gathered to pass along to others.

Eventually that conduit changes and transforms the information. The conduit is able to create new aspects on its own with what is given.

Eventually the conduit finds its own message. Little is needed to go in and much comes out.

We should look for our own message and the value we add to the world.

Focus our energy towards that added value and life makes more sense.

Motivation is cheap

Lots of words get overused in culture. Motivation is one I’ve recently noticed.

“I want to be more motivated”, “Yesterday I felt motivated to…”

The more I hear and think about it, I realize it’s cheap in its use.

Motivation is outside forces (speakers, friends, money, fame) telling us we need the carrot in front of us.

Inspire is more what we hope for.

:Fill with the urge or ability to do or feel something.

What other words connect more with you?

I’m looking for long lasting fulfillment.

Holding onto moments that inspire

So often I have a moment in life that I hope to hold onto and use for sustinance the next day and next and next

These moments are precious but finding more intrinsic sustinance is a must.

How about finding the deeper meaning in those moments and holding onto that?

Today for me the conversation I had showed others are in it with me, people care, I have opportunity and power.

I’m going to hold onto those thoughts rather than glorifying a still conversation.

What is there to risk? A few minutes each day? I’m in.

This is me starting something new. Taking my turn as put by Seth Godin.

Everyday, I’m starting in different ways. Today this is one.

My hopes for this are not well developed. I hope though, it is a way to connect with myself, others, and the environment around me.
